Some people have troubles with manners on the internet. If you want to ask something, type the question immediately then just saying hi. You haven't really done anything wrong, but it's better to be courteous.
But what about saying goodbye? Some people end the conversation simply by saying either "thanks" or "goodbye". That's perfectly fine, but if the recipients were reprimanded for how they ask questions, maybe they deserve a warmer farewell, and vice versa.

In this example, emphasizing the "lovely day" from your farewell can make a lot of difference, as it doesn't end the work day on a negative note. If the opposite is pressing people to ask questions, saying a pleasant goodbye is better for both parties' mental well-being.
